Trigger Warning: Sexualism
because apparently there was some argument regarding whether asexuals belong in the queer spectrum and now this is a thing and they posted this and WTF.
Generally people are doing really well in picking this apart, and I’m raging really hard right now, so…
I just wanted to let the compassionate people who are currently taking part in this debate know that parts of it are really triggering for me, and that probably means they are for other people, too. I didn’t put a trigger warning on it last night because I am still dealing with the shame of being called “oversensitive” for my entire life. Then I realized that I probably wasn’t the only asexual who has been harassed and damaged by zir partners because of said asexuality.
“Asexual privilege” is the biggest bullshit since “vanilla privilege”. Goodness, people. “Privilege” doesn’t just mean anything you want it to!
